Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s in Igor’s Lab

CKE Restaurants Inc., the parent company of fast-food chains Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, has signed on to support the theatrical release of Exodus Film Group’s Igor, which The Weinstein Co. is releasing on Oct. 24, 2008. More than 3,000 of the company’s restaurants across the U.S. will participate in a nationwide promotional program that will see Igor items placed in Cool Kids Combos meals. The movie will also have a presence with in-store displays and on CKE’s websites.

‘The team at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s have taken Igor‘s characters and done a terrific job creating child-friendly, interactive premiums that are consistent with the ‘invention’ theme of the film,’ comments Pam Henning, senior VP of integrated marketing at The Weinstein Co.

Animation veteran Tony Leondis (The Prince of Egypt, Lilo & Stitch 2) is directing Igor from a screenplay by Chris McKenna (American Dad). The movie tells the story of an evil scientist’s hunchbacked lab assistant with big dreams of becoming a brilliant scientist in his own right and winning the annual Evil Science Fair. Exodus has assembled an all-star voice cast that includes Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jennifer Coolidge, John Cusack, Arsenio Hall, Sean Hayes, Eddie Izzard, Jay Leno, Molly Shannon, and Christian Slater.

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s join a host of other Igor promotional partners, including master license holder Corgi International, publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster and comic-book company IDW Publishing.

Exodus has formed a strategic alliance with The Weinstein Co. to jointly develop, produce and finance a slate of CG-animated feature films, DVDs and television series, with TWC distributing worldwide. In addition to Igor, Exodus’ animation slate includes The Hero of Color City, which is in pre-production and will be distributed in North America by Magnolia Pictures, and Bunyan & Babe, which is being directed by three-time Oscar-winning vfx supervisor Jim Rygiel, and will feature the voice talents of John Goodman and Eddie Griffin.
