Mediawan Kids & Family and Toon2Tango Form Strategic Distribution Agreement

Leading European independent content studio Mediawan Kids & Family and German animation company Toon2Tango have announced the strategic integration of Toon2Tango’s content  portfolio into the distribution catalog of Mediawan Kids & Family. This strategic move aims to leverage synergies across Mediawan group companies, expanding operations, consolidating expertise and developing a diverse content portfolio for global audiences — with the goal of creating tomorrow’s major franchises.

“We’re excited to partner with Ulli, Jo and their teams,” said Julien Borde, President of Mediawan Kids & Family. “Toon2Tango’s reputation for unique, internationally successful projects will continue to grow as they expand their portfolio. This collaboration enhances our distribution catalog and enables co-production of new franchises, allowing us to offer an even broader range of premium content.”

Toon2Tango (part of LEONINE Animation Studios), led by the co-shareholders Ulli Stoef and Jo Daris, has produced international titles such as Agent 203, Hey Fuzzy Yellow, Santa.com and Monster Loving Maniacs. Veteran producers Stoef and Daris have also delivered international hit shows such as as Mia and Me, Wissper, Tip the Mouse and How and Why TV.

The new deal follows recent announcements from Toon2Tango about agreements with the toy company Schleich, a leading international brand for authentic toy figures, for its popular IP Eldrador, the acquisition of distribution rights to Thinker Ben from producer Metaxilasis, and a production and development agreement with hitmaker Keith Chapman (Bob the Builder, PAW Patrol) for Bravo Squad.

“This is a very exciting next step for us, and we feel privileged to work with Julien and the Mediawan Kids & Family team, within a leading European independent studio,” Stoef and Daris stated. “No doubt this will leverage the reach of our brands and productions and offers so many new opportunities and creative ways for both of us and our teams.”

This integration is a natural progression following Mediawan’s and LEONINE Studios’ business combination in April 2024, creating one of Europe’s premier independent studios with a global presence.

Mediawan Kids & Family’s catalog, now featuring over 2,500 half-hours of content, will incorporate and distribute all Toon2Tango’s projects, including Agent 203, Monster Loving Maniacs Season 2, Dinomite & Lucy, Pocats, The Wee Littles and all new series in development and production. Additionally, a new series based on the Littlest Robot project by Toon2Tango is currently in development with Method Animation, the historical label of Mediawan Kids & Family known for successful series such as Robin Hood: Mischief in Sherwood, The Little Prince and Friends and The Three Musketeers.

Jellyfish Pictures Shuts Down VFX & Animation Studios Worldwide

Ongoing financial struggles in the VFX and animation industries which contributed to the toppling of Technicolor Creative Group have shuttered another international studio group, Jellyfish Pictures. Titmouse Launches Unique Merch & Animation Subscription Box, Churp

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, boundary-pushing, award-winning animation studio Titmouse — known for Big Mouth, Metalocalypse, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Legend of Vox Machina, The Midnight Gospel, Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head and countless other fan-favorite shows — today unveiled Churp, a first-of-its-kind subscription club that delivers curated merch and exclusive cartoons directly to fans.

Announced during Titmouse’s SXSW anniversary panel, Churp is described as more than just a subscription box — ‘a portal into a world of exclusive animation and collectible merchandise.’

“I love to wear cartoons on my body and also wear them inside my brain. Churp is a way to get both at the same time,” says Chris Prynoski, Founder & President of Titmouse, “It’s like Sanrio for stoners.”

What’s in the Box!?

Blending a subscription box and fan club, Churp is where cult fandom, collectibles and groundbreaking animation collide. Each month, subscribers receive a mystery shipment packed with bespoke apparel, collectible items and paraphernalia featuring iconic and original cartoon characters designed by Titmouse artists. Tucked inside each box is a secret code that unlocks access to a private website, where hand-crafted cartoons — created exclusively for Churp — await. These shows and shorts won’t be available anywhere else.

More than a fan club, Churp serves as an IP incubator and creative playground, where iconic properties and fresh ideas converge, allowing fan engagement to shape future productions. It introduces new, boundary-pushing content while spotlighting cult favorites. Churp isn’t just about celebrating the characters you already love; it’s about discovering what’s next.

At launch, the platform will debut brand-new, creator-driven cartoons, including:

Bruddies A bloodbath action-comedy about two best friends.

Created by Ben Falcone (Tammy, God’s Favorite Idiot), Chris Henchy (The Other Guys, Step Brothers) and Steve Mallory (Thunder Force, Superintelligence), and produced by Melissa McCarthy (The Little Mermaid, Bridesmaids), featuring an all-star voice cast including Melissa McCarthy, Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan, Mother of the Bride), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Skincare), Joel McHale (Community, Animal Control), Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures, Truth Be Told) and George Takei (Star Trek, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai).

The Mitch Owl Show — A bright-eyed Hollywood hopeful learns the horror of working directly for an A-list celebrity.

Created by Tommy Blacha (Metalocalypse, Da Ali G Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, WWE).

A Million Dollar Idea  The story of the world’s biggest entrepreneur, who happens to live in his car.

Created by former Vox and Slate Magazine producer and Emmy Award-winning writer Sam L. Kim (The Colbert Report).

How Can It Be a Do? A pitch-perfect parody of early 2000s industrial cable network documentary series.

Mark Brooks, a longtime Titmouse artist and director, will serve as Churp’s President and creative lead. He sums up the vision: “My lifelong experience in underground bands and cartoons has led to the following philosophy for Churp: if it’s too fucked up for anyone else, then we’re definitely making it.”

Churp, the studio asserts, embraces an intentionally raw, analog-inspired production style, favoring quality and creativity over quantity. Exclusive content drops only once a month, ensuring each release maintains a high standard of quality and collectability. In addition, Titmouse plans to collaborate with additional talent and brands that reflect the studio’s signature absurdist tone, building a network of creators and partners who share its offbeat sensibility.

Churp is set to drop later this year. Fans eager to be the first in line can sign up for notifications at www.churp.tv.

Eric Jackson, of Saskatoon’s Paxolotl Media Inc., and Leslea Mair, of Winnipeg’s Zoot Pictures, announce that they have inked a deal for their kids’ 3D CG animated series Chums with Toronto-based global distributor Serial Maven Studios. 18 x 22’ episodes (Seasons 1 & 2) of the series, made for preschoolers aged 3-6, have already been completed, with 9 x 22’ episodes in production for Season 3.

Serial Maven Studios has been engaged as the worldwide distributor for all rights outside of the commissioning partners. On the heels of this year’s Kidscreen Summit, Serial Maven Studios’ network will be offering the series to buyers across all platforms.

Chums is a great example of a long running and successful franchise with incredible creative talent,” said Solange Attwood, CEO of Serial Maven Studios. “We look forward to showcasing the latest episodes to the international marketplace as we continue to expand and diversify our content offering.”

In Canada, Chums has already been greenlit for three seasons by its broadcast partners APTN (who are premiering Season 2 on May 10 in English on APTN and in Anishinaabemowin and Cree on APTN Languages), Citytv Saskatchewan and Ontario French-language network, TFO. The first two seasons of the series have also been licensed by National Indigenous Television (NITV)/SBS Australia.

“Serial Maven has tremendous experience, and we are excited to see share Chums around the world,” said Leslea Mair, executive producer of Chums for Zoot Pictures.

Eric Jackson, executive producer of the series for Paxolotl Media, added, “We are beyond excited to be working with Serial Maven and cannot wait to share what our amazing cast and crew have accomplished on this production. Let’s Go, Chums!”

In the world of Chums, Flies with Eagles — a young girl who is always willing to help — and her rag tag group of animal friends on Turtle Island are discovering their relationships to each other and to their environment on Mother Earth. Flies with Eagles’ group of “chums” (friends) includes Ira, a young Eaglet learning how to help others; Emiree, a baby beaver with the softest heart; Romper, a rabbit that has trouble paying attention; and Pterry, a ptarmigan who wishes he could fly better. Our newfound chums take it upon themselves to be the explorers of Turtle Island, and to discover and learn about the world around them.

The series is designed to encourage the discovery of traditional Indigenous relationships to the animals and environment around us. In addition to being produced in English and French versions, the series is being produced in Cree and Ojibwe, with the aim of encouraging the learning of Indigenous languages by children. Chums is formatted for lip synching and versioning the characters into various languages.

Chums is produced by Chums Media Inc., a new animation studio based in the Canadian Prairies. The producers have assembled a new animation team of talented people from across the two provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba to create a show with all Indigenous creative and cast.

Voice Cast for Netflix Animated Adventure ‘In Your Dreams’ Announced

Marking National Dream Day (March 11), Netflix has revealed the “dream cast” of its upcoming animated family feature In Your Dreams, set to premiere this Fall. the project is directed by Alex Woo (one of Animation Magazine‘s 2025 Rising Stars of Animation) and co-directed by Erik Benson.

If the siblings can withstand a snarky stuffed giraffe, zombie breakfast foods and the queen of nightmares, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate dream come true … the perfect family.

“When I started this film I set out to tell a heartfelt story that explored the magical and often hilariously absurd world of dreams. What I didn’t expect was how memorable and emotional the performances were going to be,” said Woo. “I guess that’s what happens when you’re lucky enough to work with such an extraordinary cast!”

Golden Globe-nominated actress Cristin Milioti (The Penguin, Palm Springs) will voice Mom, joining the cast alongside Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) as Dad and Craig Robinson (The Office) as Baloney Tony. “Jolie and Elias are the heart and soul of this movie. They truly carry the film, which is remarkable for any actor, but even more so for performers their age. Each recording session felt like playtime, and I hope audiences have as much fun watching the film as we had making it.”

“As someone whose worldview was heavily influenced by the animation I devoured as a kid, I’m excited to be a part of Alex Woo’s moving and tender film,” said Miloti.

Listen to the S2 podcast trailer here.

Work It Out Wombats! takes place in the Treeborhood — a massive treehouse complete with secret passageways, gondolas and rope swings. The residents of the Treeborhood — wombats, snakes, moose, kangaroos, iguanas, fish, tarsiers and eagles — bring varied skills and abilities, assorted ways of thinking, and different family structures and traditions to this diverse and vibrant community of neighbors, a place where even the adults join in the play.

Each episode includes two 11-minute stories, accompanied by a 90-second music video, featuring the Wombats as they demonstrate their computational thinking skills, learning as they go. Their aspirations sometimes exceed their abilities, but with every problem they encounter, the trio stops, takes a breath, puts their heads together and comes up with a workable solution, using the design process, sequencing, debugging and other key computational thinking skills.

The series i produced by GBH Kids and Pipeline Studios.

New Episodes:

Treeborhood Cause and Effect Machine / Riddles of the Treeborhood

  • Watch the Family Food game show and cheer on the Shelly family? Or do a favor for the Shellys and water their Sunberry Blossom plant? The Wombats can’t do both … although maybe they can, if they can perfect their “Cause and Effect” machine in time.
  • Super’s best friend Chanáa from Alaska pays a visit to the Treeborhood (he’s a lot of fun and has endless riddles up his sleeve). If the Wombats can solve three riddles of increasing difficulty, they just might win Chanáa’s special prize!

The Great Splendito / The Bike Wash

  • After a surprise storm makes a muddy mess of everyone’s bikes, the Wombats team up to create a bike-cleaning machine that will get everyone’s ride sparkling in time for the big parade.
  • Imagine the most amazing, unusual hotel in the whole wide world and you’re pretty much describing the Lakeview Hotel, deep beneath the waters of Lake Bellyflop. With music rooms and a movie theater and free popcorn and underwater views, it’s a great place to visit and a hard place to leave.

Tricky Tricky Taiko Drum / Toy Swap Flop

  • Time for a Taiko drum concert! The Wombats will be performing, only Zeke keeps getting confused. There are so many different sound patterns in the Treeborhood — washing machines, snow cone makers, remote-controlled hammers. Can he stick to the one drum pattern he needs to play?
  • Zadie borrows a toy from Louisa, then promptly loses track of it. Oh, but it’s so hard to admit that she’s done this. What if Louisa gets too sad? Or mad? From Ellie, Super, and Malik, Zadie learns how to make a plan for keeping track of your stuff.

Survey Says / Lost and Found Patrol

  • To have purple ping-pong balls at the Emporium, or not to have? That is the question on the survey the Wombats are conducting for Mr. E. Though somehow, they’re getting answers to all the wrong questions.
  • Gramma Super can’t watch her favorite TV show without her glasses, and now she’s gone and lost them. Time to call in the Lost and Found Patrol (a.k.a. Zadie, Malik, and Zeke). If it’s lost, it will be found, when the Lost and Found Patrol’s around!

Ellie’s Island / Buckley’s Wombatty Playdate

  • The Wombats are happy to help Ellie pack a barrel full of gifts for her family back in Jamaica, until they start to suspect and worry that she might be planning to stay in Jamaica. Is there a way to make her want to come back to her Treeborhood home?
  • When Buckley comes over for a playdate, Zadie quickly learns that having a friend over can have unexpected effects — for worse (splattering yellow paint everywhere and breaking Zadie’s favorite puppet) and for better (getting to eat extra-special, blueberry, chocolate chippy pancakes with smiley face whipped cream on top!).
