David Shayne

Executive Producer, Writer

Currently in development, David Shayne was the Co-Executive Producer and Writer of three LEGO Star Wars holiday specials for Disney+. Prior to that he was in development with projects with Netflix, Atomic, Mattel and Disney Television Animation, working with the latter to develop Marvel’s Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur

He developed and wrote for the LEGO Jurassic World TV series and was the Story Editor for Season 7 of LEGONinjago: Masters of Spinjitzu for Cartoon Network. In that role he oversaw the season’s writing and also wrote several episodes, including the one-hour Halloween special Ninjago: Day of the Departed. He has also worked as Story Editor for the Disney XD animated series Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja, where he had previously served as a staff writer. 

David’s freelance writing credits include LEGO Star Wars: Freemaker Adventures (Disney XD), Phineas and Ferb and T.O.T.S. (Disney), The Pink Panther and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (Cartoon Network), The Stinky & Dirty Show (Amazon) and The Adventures of Chuck and Friends and Littlest Pet Shop (The Hub). He was a staff writer on the live-action series I’m in the Band (Disney XD) and the animated series Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil (Disney XD). 

In a prior life, David was a member of the Usual Gang of Idiots of MAD Magazine, having worked as a freelance writer after serving as the magazine’s Associate Editor. He has written movie and TV spoofs and is the author of MADvertising and Spy Vs. Spy Casebook Vol. 2

David attended the Warner Bros. Comedy Writer’s Workshop. He has also performed with the Improv Master Class at the ACME Comedy Theater.  

Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, David is a graduate of Columbia University in New York. When he’s not writing, he is a hack basketball player who likes to bust out his low-post moves on old guys at the Y.
