Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit are a writing-producing duo who have built their careers as storytellers and have become stewards of beloved IP in Hollywood.
Hernandez and Samit most recently served as co-showrunners and executive producers of the 4-part animated special LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which premiered on Disney+ on September 13th. The duo also served as co-showrunners and executive producers on Hulu’s adult animated comedy Koala Man, starring Hugh Jackman, Sarah Snook, and Michael Cusack. Hernandez and Samit’s other television credits include the Peabody-nominated One Day at a Time, The Tick, Central Park, Super Fun Night, and 1600 Penn. They are currently developing multiple shows under their overall deal at Disney.
On the film side, Hernandez and Samit served as screenwriters on the critically acclaimed films Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and Addams Family 2. The pair have a number of projects in the works including the sequel to Mel Brooks’s Spaceballs for Amazon/MGM, the upcoming Figment movie based on Disney World’s Epcot theme park character, and features for multiple studios including Paramount and Skydance. In 2024, Hernandez and Samit were nominated for an Annie Award for their writing of Teenange Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The duo was also spotlighted in 2019 as one of Variety’s “10 Screenwriters to Watch.”
