Maral Mohammadian has been a producer at the National Film Board of Canada's renowned English Animation Unit since 2014, based in Montreal. She was born in Tehran a year after the revolution and at the beginning of the Iran-Iraq war. She immigrated to Canada with her family, passing through Italy and the UK before settling in Toronto in 1990. Her films have received awards at TIFF, LA Shorts, NYC Shorts, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, and more. Her award-winning films include The Weatherman and the Shadowboxer by Randall Okita, Deyzangeroo by Ehsan Gharib, and the international co-productions Hide by Daniel Gray (Hungary/France) and Impossible Figures and other stories I by Marta Pajek (Poland). Her most recent slate of films includes Maybe Elephants, by Oscar-winning director Torill Kove. Maral has helped develop some of Canada’s top talents through the NFB’s Hothouse mentorship program, which she has produced since 2014.
