Pablo Hernández González-Barreda

President

Pablo Hernández González-Barreda is Assistant Professor of Tax Law at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas. He has edited more than 4 treatises, and authored two books and several articles on International Tax Law, taxation of the financial sector and impact of tax law on startups. He has been involved in advising Governments and corporations in tax law matter and prevention of abuse. In 2013 he was awarded the Tax Executive Institute award for the best paper from a Young Academic and in 2015 he was awarded the Pantheon-Sorbonne Tax Thesis Award for the best doctoral thesis. From 2019 to 2021 he was Director General of Public Administration at the Government of the Canary Islands. Since 2021 he is the President of the Canary Islands Tax Zone at the Ministry of Finance.

As a researcher in international tax law, he has been extensively working on Pillar 2. In particular, he has participated in the forthcoming first treatise on Pillar 2 to be published by Edward Elgar. Moreover, He has been a Visiting Researcher and Visiting Professor several times at WU, so he would also like to continue and reinforce his academic cooperation with WU in Pillar 2.

In addition, he is currently on leave (though maintaining his academic researcher status), and he has been working in particular on Pillar 2 effects.
