Sean Pecknold is an independent animator and director from Seattle, based in Los Angeles, primarily known for his work in stop-motion and multi-plane animation. He has created films and animations for Fleet Foxes, Netflix, Dreamworks, Google, John Legend, and The New York Times. His debut stop-motion film White Winter Hymnal won a Jury Prize at SXSW, and his multi-plane film The Shrine / An Argument won Best Animation at the UKMVAs. Sean co-runs Sing-Sing studio with production designer Adi Goodrich and has taught stop-motion workshops at CalArts and Otis.
His 2021 animated short Featherweight was nominated for an Annie Award. And in 2024, his stop-motion short Tennis, Oranges has won multiple awards and screened at over 140 festivals, including Annecy, AFI Fest, SXSW, and Ottawa. He is currently preparing to direct his first feature-length animated film.
