Tom Ruegger

Creator, Producer, Writer, Showrunner

Tom Ruegger is the fourteen-time Emmy-winning creator, producer, writer and showrunner of many successful and beloved animated television series, including Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toon Adventures, Freakazoid, Road Rovers, Histeria, Disney's The 7D and Sushi Pack.

Tom began his career at Hanna-Barbera Productions where he served as an assistant animator and animator on cartoon series including Scooby Doo, The New Flintstones, Casper and The Godzilla Power Hour. Tom honed his writing skills at Filmation Studios on such series as Flash Gordon, Blackstar and Tarzan, then returned to Hanna-Barbera to serve as story editor and producer on shows including Scooby Doo and The Pound Puppies. In 1988, Tom created and produced a new Scooby franchise, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, which was the first Scooby series to be nominated for an Emmy Award.

Tom joined Warner Bros. Animation in 1989 to head up production of Steven Spielberg presents Tiny Toon Adventures. Thus began a decade-long creative collaboration between Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Ruegger that spanned five enormously successful series (Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain and Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain) resulting in ratings success, a worldwide fan base and over 30 Emmy Award victories in numerous categories. With the success of Tiny Toons, Warner Bros. Animation began its second “Golden Age,” and Tom became Chief Creative Executive of the company. Tom continued his collaboration with Mr. Spielberg by creating a new cartoon franchise entitled Animaniacs. The series went on to win multiple Emmys as well as the George Foster Peabody Award for Outstanding Achievement in Animation Programming. As the creator of Animaniacs, Tom served as senior producer, show-runner, lyricist, story editor and writer on the series. During his Warner Bros. tenure, Tom also created Pinky & the Brain, Road Rovers and Histeria, and served as executive producer and writer on Batman: the Animated Series.

More recently, Tom has developed stories and written scripts for Apple-TV's new series The Snoopy Show. Also, Tom has developed, produced, story-edited and written the animated Disney Television Animatiom series THE 7D based on "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs." In addition, Tom has produced, story-edited and written the animated TV series Animalia for Porchlight Enterrtainment and the Sushi Pack series for American Greetings.
