French trans-media entertainment group Ankama unveils its latest IP, Abraca, which will bring a humorous, zany world of fairy tales to audiences via a TV series, web series, video game and both digital and traditional publications. Fairy tale characters will feature in all media versions, but the TV show will be set in the real world, while the game takes players to the realm of “Imagi,” where princes and princesses team up to fight other royal duos.
The TV series, commissioned by France Televisions, will be a 26 x 26 slapstick comedy which follows a rational geek and an impulsive girl knight who team up to help fairy tale beings solve their many problems. The show will launch in France in mid-2017. The web series, digital comic book, print comic books and novels will all offer parallel stories to the TV version.
The video game will be a competitive but humorous mixture of fighting game and platformer elements, available on PC and consoles, set to arrive in 2016.
