August Media Acquires Red Kite Animation

August Media Holdings has bought Red Kite Animation, a children’s entertainment production company based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Founded by Jyotirmoy Saha and based in Singapore, August Media made the deal as part of its strategy to acquire successful businesses in different markets and territories.

Red Kite, founded in 1997 by Ken Anderson, will operate as a subsidiary of August Media. Anderson will remain as creative director while taking a seat on August Media’s board of directors and acting as executive director for its other business interests.

Red Kite is best known for producing projects such as The Secret World of Benjamin Bear, Dennis and Gnasher, 64 Zoo Lane and The Imp.

‘Red Kite is a great acquisition not only for its development slate but also for the value it brings in its fabulous creative and production teams,’ says Saha. ‘For August Media this was a golden opportunity as it gives us a very quick and solid jumpstart into the kids’ animated content business.’
