BRB’s Eon Kid Pulls Ratings

Citing Nielsen ratings data, BRB Internacional has announced that its new animated series Iron Kid has become the most-viewed children’s show in open-broadcast on Saturday mornings in America, where it airs during the Kids WB! Block on The CW under the title Eon Kid. The series debuted on Sept. 22 and reportedly earned a 1.9/8 rating last Saturday, Oct. 13, sending it to the top of the list of the forty shows on various U.S. networks directed at the same target audience.

Co-produced by BRB Internacional, Screen 21, Manga Ent., Designstorm, Daewon Media and TVE, Iron Kid/Eon Kid is an action/adventure show written by Nicole Dubuc (Kim Possible) and Ben Townsend (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). The Manga-influenced action revolves around young Marty, a boy from the future who discovers the Fist of Eon, a robotic arm that gives him unknown powers and places him at the forefront of a centuries-old battle between good and evil.

The show has been enjoying international success with airings on Canal Clan, TVE-2 and Jetix in Spain, Jetix Latin America and KBS in Korea. Spanish public broadcaster TVE will soon begin airing the series on weekends on its first channel, TVE-1, and it will it will also debut in open-broadcast format in Italy, Portugal, Russia, Bulgaria, Middle East, Ecuador and Turkey over the next few weeks.

Spanish multi-national Famosa has just released the first line of toys inspired by the series, including action figures and an exact replica of the Fist of Eon, which empowers the saga’s young protagonist. In addition, U.S. and Canada merchandising partner Playmates is developing a wide range of toys, including action figures, vehicles and transformers.
