Independent distributor and co-producer INDIGO has signed a deal with the Disney channels for its new animated special, Nine Dog Christmas. Mary Bredin, director of acquisitions and programming, and Emma Collin, head of kids properties at INDIGO, announced that the musical adventure will premiere on Disney channels in Italy, Germany, Asia and Taiwan, and on Fox Kids in Latin America for Christmas 2004.
Narrated by James Earl Jones (The Lion King), Nine Dog Christmas tells the story of nine extraordinary stray dogs who come to Santas rescue when the reindeer flu threatens to cancel Christmas.
The special is produced by Peter Keefe E-Content/JRS Properties LLC. INDIGO has worldwide TV rights, and licensing is being handled by Moon Mesa Media. An extensive licensing campaign will be launched next year. Warner Home Video is releasing the title worldwide on VHS and DVD for the 2004 holiday season.
A Halloween special titled Nine Dog Night of Fright is being produced later this year and a series is already in development.
