Dora Rocks Out in New Special

Preschoolers will get a chance to jam with one of their favorite Nickelodeon toon stars with the new Dora the Explorer prime-time special “Dora Rocks!” premiering Monday, January 14 at 7 p.m. ET/PT. The half-hour adventure gives kids the opportunity to flex their musical chops and play interactive games that will teach geometry and catchy Spanish words and phrases. The Emmy-winning show currently reaches more preschoolers than any other TV show (12.4 million) and averages a 4.9/661,000 K2-% and 1.5 million total viewers.

In the new special, Benny forgets to send out invitations to his sing-along party, and Dora and Boots must rush to get the microphone to Benny’s Barn to call their friends to the party—but first they must tackle the Noisy River and create an avalanche to cross the Rumble Rocks. Dora’s reward is a chance to dress in her “pop star” outfit and perform a special song with all her friends.

In celebration of “Dora Rocks!” Nickelodeon will bring the party to Target shoppers with exclusive Dora merchandise through April, including apparel, DVDs, electronics, toys, books and more available in stores and at Target.com. Additionally, the Dora Rocks! CD is now available at Target and other retailers, and features 12 upbeat tracks including the series theme song and tunes from the special.

Kids and parents can find more information about the show plus fun print out activities at NickJr.com—as well as a new online game for kids, Dora Rocks: A Sing-Along Party Game and a Fan Club sweepstakes giving away the ultimate music party plus other “Dora Rocks!” prizes. Plus, parents are invited to submit videos of their kids rocking out to the song from the special for a chance to see them in a music video on TV and on the website. Next stop, American Idol!
