eOne’s ‘Zak Storm’ Gets Greenlight

Entertainment One (eOne)’s latest animated kids’ series Zak Storm has been greenlit for production, and is set to air on France’s leading kids network Gulli starting in 2015. The 39 x 30 CG-animated series is aimed at children aged 6-11 and will be available for presales at MIPCOM this month — eOne hold global distribution rights.

The adventure kicks off when regular kid Zak is sucked into the Bermuda Triangle in the middle of a surfing competition, and finds himself captaining a ship of misfits — including a headstrong female first mate, thick-headed Viking, neurotic space traveler and a prankster poltergeist. He partners up with a magical talking sword named Calabrass which lets him power up with various armor and weapons to face the perils of this strange world.

Zak Storm was conceived by the Man of Action creative team (Ben 10) and will be produced by Zagtoon, Method Animation and eOne Family. Iron Man animated series vet Philippe Guyenne will direct the series.
