Children’s programming entity Fox Kids Europe N.V. is now known as Jetix Europe N.V. The name change was made official today, following yesterday’s approval meeting in Holland. The announcement was made just two days after Fox Kids Europe head Bruce Steinberg was voted out of the CEO position by company shareholders. Jetix Europe managing director and exec. VP Paul Taylor has taken the reins in the interim with hope of assuming the role full-time.
The name change is part of Fox Kids Europe’s ongoing rebranding that began with this year’s worldwide launch of the Jetix action/adventure kids block. Jetix is the banner for the entertainment alliance between FKE, ABC Cable Networks and Fox Kids Latin America.
Largely owned by Disney, Jetix Europe is co-producing two new animated series with the Mouse House. W.I.T.C.H. and Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go! will be the first original programs to carry the Jetix logo.
Jetix-branded programming blocks debuted in the U.S. in February of this year with morning programming on ABC Family and primetime slots on Toon Disney. Fox Kids channels in Europe and the Middle East have also recently launched Jetix blocks, with outlets in Latin America to follow in August.
