Jetix Europe launched its new animated sci-fi series O-ban Star-Racers in collaboration with French studio Sav! The World Productions on Saturday Oct. 15, at MIPCOM Jr. Super RTL, France 3 and Japans Bandai Visual and Hal Film Maker were additional production partners on the 26 half-hours of intergalactic racing adventure that will debut on Jetix Europe in autumn of 2006.
The first co-production with Japanese partners for Jetix Europe, O-ban Star-Racers is aimed at kids 7-12 with 2D and 3D animation, delivering a unique visual blend of western sci-fi styling and Japanese anime. Centered on the on the Great Race of O-ban, a competition held every 10,000 years that holds a mysterious prize for the winner and determines the balance of powers within the Galaxy, the series tracks the experience of feisty teen Molly whose fate is strangely connected to the result of the race.
Jetix Consumer Products (JCP) will manage the licensing rights on the show, looking to generate tie-ins for all product categories based on O-ban Star-Racers extensive cast of characters and well-designed array of racing vehicles. Jetix Europe has all Pay TV rights for Europe and the Middle East, and holds rights to TV distribution, home video, consumer products and online applications for the world, excluding France and Asia.
