The Owl, a series of 52 one-minute-long comedy shorts from TV Loonland, has been picked up by Jetix in a pay-TV rights agreement covering the U.S., Latin America, the Nordic territories, Japan, India and Pakistan. The cross-platform property was also recently picked up by BBC in the U.K., and pay-TV rights were licensed to French broadcaster Canal J and Mini Mini Poland.
Created and directed by Alexandre So, The Owl is a co-production of TV-Loonland, Paris-based Studio Hari and French public network France 3. In the shorts, a pink owl endures an unending string of hilarious mishaps, which often leave her in pieces. The property made its TV debut on France 3 and has been sold to Universal Family Entertainment in Germany for Home Video.
The Owl was also acquired by YTV and Societe Radio Canada (SRC) for free- and pay-TV, and free-TV rights have been picked up by VEO TV DIGITAL in Spain, DR TV in Denmark and Polish pre-school channel Canal + Cyfrowy. Non-exclusive mobile rights for the U.K. have been granted to Player X with Vivendi Mobile Ent. picking up rights for France. Free VOD and IPTV rights have been licensed to Bonsai Channel in Italy.
