European producer and distributor Millimages has secured a multi-territory deal with Nickelodeon for animated pre-school show Louie. Nickelodeon has picked up Pay TV rights to the show for Nick Jr. in Europe (excluding the U.K. and France), Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and will air the show this year.
John Reynolds, Millimages’ group director notes, “Louie continues to be one of our key properties and remains a show that is much-loved globally. We are thrilled that Nickelodeon has shown to Louie and that it will now been seen by new audiences around the world.”
With three seasons and 117 episodes, Louie is produced by Millimages and airs on many broadcasters including CBeebies in the UK, France 5, SuperRTL Germany and ABC Australia. It also has an extensive licensing program in France and agents in Europe and Asia; an iPad application launched in June 2011 and two special episodes (2×22′) are currently in production.
Adapted from the works of Yves Got and created by Isabeau Merle, Louie follows the adventures of an adventurous rabbit and his friend, Yoko, the butterfly, as they teach young viewers about the world and the magic of art through their simple drawings. The series was first introduced in 2004. For more info, visit www.millimages.com.
