Cartoon Network’s latest 2D adventure comedy, Steven Universe, will premiere November 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. To celebrate, series creator Rebecca Sugar (Emmy and Annie Award-nominated writer and storyboard artist for Adventure Time) has recorded a special video message for toon fans getting psyched to tune in.
Steven Universe follows a boy named Steven who finds himself the ultimate “little brother” situation as the young (and only male) member of superhero group the Crystal Gems. Steven may not be as powerful as the Gems, or as savvy. And he doesn’t have much control over his powers, which come from the magical gem in his bellybutton. But that doesn’t stop him from joining Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl on their adventures and somehow finding a way to save the day.
The show features the voices of Zach Callison (Steven), singer-songwriter Estelle (Garnet), Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), Sinbad, Joel Hodgson, Tom Scharpling, Grace Rolek, Atticus Shaffer, Reagan Gomez, Brian Posehn, Matthew Moy and Kate Micucci, as well as special guest stars Aimee Mann and Nicki Minaj. Ian Jones-Quartey (The Venture Bros., Adventure Time) serves as supervising director.
