SpongeBob trades in his signature square pants for a square loin cloth in the primetime special SpongeBob SquarePants Goes Prehistoric, premiering tonight, March 5, at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
The fun begins when fanatical SpongeBob fan club president Patchy (played by SpongeBob voice Tom Kenny) invents a time machine and goes back to a prehistoric Bikini Bottom to retrieve a never-before-seen episode of the show. The live-action segments, which are reminiscent of Pee Wee’s Playhouse, will introduce classic installments of the toon series prior to the 9:30 airing of the all-new prehistoric episode.
The prehistoric version of the show features a giant version of SpongeBob’s loyal pet snail, Gary, and has the whole cast of characters speaking an unintelligible caveman language throughout.
