Harvest Tech Proposes 3D Printing Panel at SXSW

Texas-based 3D printing and additive manufacturing company Harvest Technologies is seeking votes from interested attendees that will slate it to host a panel presentation at SXSW Interactive 2015 on the burgeoning technology’s impact on movie production. Company president David Leigh and Jason Lopes of Legacy Effects will lead the presentation with an in-depth look at the 3D printing process and how it has revolutionized the film industry, allowing studios to quickly produce memorable characters, props, costumes and more.

3D printing or Rapid Prototyping has been on the animation radar in recent years thanks to its utilization for facial replacement stop-motion animation as seen in LAIKA films Coraline, ParaNorman and this year’s The Boxtrolls. To earn a SXSW Interactive panel slot, the company needs local residents and online voters to cast lots via the SXSW Panel Picker, which closes this week on September 6. For more information on SXSW 2015 and to vote for Harvest Tech’s ‘3D Printing in the Movies’ panel, visit panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/35913.
