Stoopid Buddy Teams with NOUNS DAO to Fund NFT-Inspired Short-Shorts

Emmy-winning toon shop Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot Chicken, Crossing Swords) has joined forces with Web3 community NOUNS DAO to provide funding for animators to create 15-second comedy shorts as part of the upcoming Nouns Short Shorts festival, dedicated to animation and NOUNS NFTs.

The festival will feature original shorts from artists curated by a team that includes Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, Pixel Studios (which animated the NOUNS short The Wizard’s Hat) and former Adult Swim SVP Walter Newman. Additional animators will be selected through a public contest held on Nouns Prop House. Anyone who can provide an artist portfolio and has an Ethereum wallet can submit their pitch.

There are just three requirements for a Short Short: It must be funny, it must be at least 15 seconds in length and it must feature at least one Noun character.

Selected artists get paid US$7,500 upfront, have full creative control and can choose to either retain ownership of their IP entirely or release their videos into the public domain via a CC0 license. The first six artists have already been hand-picked and are currently animating their Short Shorts.

For artists who release their Short Short under a CC0 license, the NOUNS festival team has set aside $20,000 in extra prizes for a variety of categories, including fan favorite and a jury award for best picture.

Animators who are not selected to receive funding can still submit their original shorts to the festival to compete for these prizes.

Stoopid Buddy and NOUNS are looking for five animators for the funding initiative. Artists can submit their pitches through Prop House by the deadline of 11:55 p.m. EST on March 13, 2023.

The Nouns Short Shorts Film Festival will take place in June.
