NEON Boots Up Official ‘Robot Dreams’ Teaser

The Spanish-French 2D animated feature Robot Dreams is one step closer to bringing its critically acclaimed, off-beat buddy tale to U.S. cinemas with the debut of an official teaser-trailer from Stateside distributor, NEON. The spot promises Pablo Berger’s toon debut will be coming soon.

Synopsis: Dog lives in Manhattan and he’s tired of being alone. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a companion. Their friendship blossoms, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, Dog, with great sadness, is forced to abandon Robot at the beach. Will they ever meet again?

The movie is based on the graphic novel by Sara Varon (hear Berger’s thoughts on the book’s impact and inspirational in our recently posted video exclusive here). Robot Dreams made its premiere at Cannes last year, followed by a screening at Annecy and theatrical releases in Spain and France last month. The film won the European Film Award for animated feature, is nominated for four Goya Awards and is under consideration for the Oscars.

Berger wrote the screenplay for the dialog-free adaptation, directed and produced alongside Ibon Cormenzana, Ignasi Estapé, Jérome Vidal and executive producer Sandra Tapia. Jose Luis Agreda served as art director, and the music was provided by Alfonso de Vilallonga, who won the Goya Award for original score for Berger’s 2012 Snow White remix, Blancanieves.

Robot Dreams is produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures (Spain), Noodles Production (France), Les Films du Worso (France), the Spanish public television service RTVE and platform Movistar Plus+.
