BTS: Tony Winner Renée Elise Goldsberry Performs New ‘Muppet Babies’ Theme

Tony Award-winning actress, singer and songwriter Renée Elise Goldsberry (Broadway’s Hamilton) has been revealed as the performer for the theme song on Disney Junior’s highly anticipated CG update of Muppet Babies, premiering this March on Disney Channel. The memorable theme tune, originally written by Hank Saroyan and Rob Walsh, has been reimagined for the new show by the award-winning Doc McStuffins songwriting team of Kay Hanley, Michelle Lewis and Dan Petty. It song will be released by Walt Disney Records on Friday, February 23. Andy Bean (Puppy Dog Pals) is the series songwriter/composer for Muppet Babies, with Keith Horn (The 7D) as co-composer.

Goldsberry originated the role of Angelica Schuyler in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit musical Hamilton, earning Tony, Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk awards. She also starred on Broadway in The Color Purple, Rent and The Lion King. Currently, Goldsberry is starring as rebel leader Quellcrist Falconer in Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon. Last month, she was a guest star on Disney’s The Lion Guard, voicing Dhahabu in the episode “The Golden Zebra.”
