Disney Channel Introduces ‘Star Wars Resistance’ Squad in First Look

The new animated series Star Wars Resistance is gearing up to take fans into the events preceding The Force Awakens, with a one-hour premiere launch set for Sunday, October 7 at 10 a.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD, with subsequent airings on Disney XD. A first-look video (below) just released introduces the intrepid crew of heroes piloting the show’s action, Team Fireball. (Check out the previously revealed trailer here.)

Star Wars Resistance will roll out on Disney Channels Worldwide following the US debut.

The series follows the high-flying adventures of Kazuda “Kaz” Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean of Days of Our Lives), a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.

In the premiere episode, “The Recruit,” Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and BB-8 assign newly-appointed spy Kaz to the Colossus, a massive aircraft refueling platform on an outer rim water planet, home to colorful new aliens, droids and creatures. While undercover, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s old friend Jarek Yeager (Scott Lawrence), a veteran pilot who operates a starship repair shop run by his crew: Tam Ryvora (Suzie McGrath), Neeku Vozo (Josh Brener) and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket. Kaz soon finds himself in over his head with his new friend BB-8 as competes in dangerous sky races, keeps his mission a secret from his newfound family, and avoids the dangerous First Order.

The voice cast also includes Myrna Velasco as Torra Doza, Donald Faison as Hype Fazon, Jim Rash as Flix, Bobby Moynihan as Orka, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, and Rachel Butera as General Leia Organa.

Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) created the series; Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Justin Ridge (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) and Brandon Auman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) serve as executive producers; and Amy Beth Christenson (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) is art director.
