Having recently turned down a billion-plus dollar acquisition bid from ITV, Canada-based Entertainment One (eOne) has snapped up 100 percent control of interactive and emerging platform content producer Secret Location.
eOne had previously taken an equity stake in the Toronto company in 2014 as it expanded operations into the U.S.
Secret Location started out creating digital content to extend Canuck shows like Big Brother Canada and The Book of Negroes, ore recently working on expanded universes for U.S. series The Blacklist and Sleepy Hollow — creating a VR experience for the supernatural FOX show that won a Creative Arts Emmy last year.
Details of the deal should be revealed on Thursday in the U.K., where eOne is on the London Stock Exchange.
eOne itself has reportedly attracted acquisitive interest from private equity company KKR & Co. since rejecting ITV’s bid.
