Two more top talents have been added to the cast list for Disney’s live-action/CG update of The Jungle Book, due out in 3-D October 9, 2015. Oscar winner Christopher Walken has signed on as King Louie, ruler of a troop of monkeys and apes, while Breaking Bad‘s Giancarlo Esposito will voice Akela, leader of the wolf pack.
Walken and Esposito join previously announced players Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Lupita Nyong’o (Raksha), Idris Elba (Shere Khan) and Scarlett Johansson (Kaa). The Jungle Book will be the debut of child actor Neel Sethi as Mowgli — the only non-CG character in the adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic. Jon Favreau is directing from a script by Justin Marks.
