These days it seems, all people want to really do in Hollywood isn’t direct, it’s to voice a character in an animated feature. The latest case in point: Casper producer Classic Media has just added Bob Saget, Jim Belushi, Phyllis Diller and Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson) to the cast of the new CG animated film Casper’s Scare School straight-to-DVD fall 2006 release.
Belushi and Saget will team to voice the film’s two-headed villain. Phyllis Diller (A Bug’s Life, The Aristocrats) provides the voice of Aunt Spitzy. Castellaneta lends his famous voice to Casper’s Uncle Stinky. Casper himself is to be voiced by Devon Werkheiser (Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide).
Producers are Classic Media’s Evan Baily, Bob Mittenthal, Ralph Guggenheim of Alligator Planet and Sandra Walters of Kapow Pictures. Classic Media’s chairman and CEO, Eric Ellenbogen is executive producer. Award-winning filmmaker Mark Gravas, creator and director of Nickelodeon’s animated TV series Yakkity Yak (and Walters’ partner in Kapow Pictures), is directing. The screenplay was written by Andrew Nicholls and Darrell Vickers from a story by Kirk DeMicco and Mittenthal. Animation is in progress at Crest Animation in Mumbai, India.
