The DreamWorks animated hits Shrek, Shrek 2 and Shark Tale will soon be entertaining viewers on the go via a three-year licensing deal with Majesco Ent. The films will be the first feature-length titles released in Majescos Game Boy Advance Video line, which offers animated content compressed onto standard Game Boy Advance cartridges.
Shrek, Shrek 2 and Shark Tale will be available for Game Boy Advance Video this October and will carry a suggested retail price of $19.99. The deal also grants Majesco exclusive rights to distribute titles based on the three films for Nintendo DS and the upcoming Game Boy Micro.
Despite tough competition from Sonys PSP and its UMD disc compatibility, Majesco has sold approximately 3 million units of Game Boy Advance Video titles since the company’s proprietary video compression technology was introduced in 2004.
