Young fans of the CG-animated PBS KIDS series Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks can now interact with their barnyard pals online. The newly launched web site (www.pbskids.org/jakers) offers stories and games based on the new show from London-based Entara and Los Angeles-based Mike Young Prods.
Aimed at kids 4-7, Jakers! follows the adventures of Piggley Winks and his friends Dannan the Duck and Ferny the Bull on Raloo Farm in the rural Irish village of Tara in the 1950s. Mel Brooks brings his comic talents to the voice cast as Wiley the Sheep, an American transplant who offers wild and woolly advice to his all-too-sheepish flock.
The show’s producers at Entara worked closely with their new media division, Entara Interactive, veteran interactive media consultant Adrienne Schure and PBS Interactive to ensure that the web site enhances and extends the series’ goals of harnessing imagination, developing social skills, fostering intergenerational communication and sharing lessons through storytelling.
Parents, caregivers, and educators may also access Jakers! via pbs.org/parents, a site that features additional information on PBS KIDS programs, upcoming episodes and family activities, as well as resources and advice.
