Film London is bringing five high-profile U.S. animation executives to the British capital this week in an effort to promote the city’s animation industry and encourage international co-production. The three-day “familiarization” trip will give visiting reps from FreemantleMedia Enterprises, Marvel Television, Cinema Management Group, Tricon Kids and PBS and insider’s view of the local biz, along with seminars highlighting the U.K.’s generous tax relief schemes.
“London has an excellent track record when it comes to producing exciting, engaging animation,” says Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London and the British Film Commission. “From Peppa Pig to The Amazing World of Gumball, our city’s animators have created the kind of productions that keep viewers coming back for more. When you combine this talent with our generous tax reliefs it is a pretty powerful offer. This is why we are bringing some of the US’s biggest animation companies to London to enable them to connect with London’s animation houses to ensure our industry exploits this opportunity.”
