Here’s some great news for anyone who would like to learn the art of animation from one of the top talents working in the field today, Eric Goldberg. The Laguna College of Art and Design is offering a special Animation Master Class from June 9 thru August 25th with Goldberg, whose long list of credits include Pocahontas (director), Aladdin (character designer and supervising animator on Genie), Hercules (character designer for Phil) Fantasia 2000 (director of Rhapsody in Blue, Carnival of the Animals segments), Looney Tunes: Back in Action, The Princess and the Frog (Luis) and last year’s Winnie the Pooh (Rabbit).
Students will the chance to work in all phases of productions on a collaborative, traditionally animated short mentored by Goldberg. The exclusive workshop is designed for college-level animation students and recent graduates. Enrollment is limited to 16 students and acceptance is by portfolio and animation reel review. The class meets for six hours every Saturday for 12 weeks at Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna, Calif. Students will have access to work space and computers weekdays and Saturdays in the LCAD Animation department. Submission deadline is May 1.
