As we get ready to ring in the new year, it’s good to know that 2018 is going down as the largest grossing year at the domestic box office, with an estimated total of $11.5 billion in tickets sales. The previous record was 2016’s $11.37 billion total. Of course, most of the revenue was generated by animated features such as Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2, Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet, Universal’s The Grinch and Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and CG-effects movies such as Disney/Marvel’s Black Panther and The Avengers: Infinity War and Universal’s Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.
