The pernicious peridot porkers made famous in the Angry Birds games (and now enjoying big screen success with The Angry Birds Movie) are staging another invasion today as Rovio Animation launches Piggy Tales: Third Act on ToonsTV. The first all-new episode, “Wrong Floor,” debuts June 3 on the iOS and Android app before coming to the ToonsTV channel in Angry Birds games and the ToonsTV YouTube channel on June 5.
“Piggy Tales is a highly popular series among our unique animated shorts, airing on the ToonsTV, DVD and syndicated channels,” said Tommy Korpinen, President, Rovio Animation. “Following the massive success of The Angry Birds Movie, we’re continuing to focus on bringing creative storytelling and humorous animated content to fans on the ‘small’ screen with ToonsTV.”
Piggy Tales: Third Act is the third season of the popular toon and features 30 one-minute episodes based on a theater theme, following the goofy green pigs as they rehearse and horse around on-stage. New episodes will air weekly through to the season finale later this year. This season includes special multi-part episodes “Summer Sports” (July 22 – Aug. 22), “Back to School” (Aug. 28 – Sept. 25), “Halloween” (Sept. 30 – Nov. 6) and “Happy Holidays” (Dec. 1 – Jan. 8, 2017).
Piggy Tales began in 2014 and has since racked up over 1 billion views. In all, ToonsTV has garnered more than 6 billion views since launching in 2013 across 30 kid-friendly channels. Rovio continues to grow the VOD service with original and partner content.
