‘Boondocks’ Returns to Adult Swim

Peabody Award-winning animated series The Boondocks is set to return to Adult Swim for a fourth — and final — season, premiering April 21 at 10:30 p.m. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the new season was produced without comic and series creator Aaron McGruder due to production scheduling conflicts.

Season four finds Granddad (John Witherspoon), Huey and Riley (Regina King) encountering a slew of new and familiar characters around their Chicago suburb neighborhood and getting into uproarious situations — like Granddad dating a long lost Kardashian sister, their friend Tom DuBois trading legal advice for love tips with a bad-boy R&B artist, Granddad’s affair with iPhone’s Siri and the family’s foray into the lethal black market of the hair-care industry a la Breaking Bad.

The series also stars Gary Anthony Williams, Gabby Soleil, Jill Talley and Cedric Yarbrough returning as fan favorites Colonel H. Stinkmeaner and Tom Dubois.

The farewell season will feature an eclectic mix of guest stars, including Jenifer Lewis (Think Like a Man), Dennis Haysbert (24), Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Ghostface Killah, Lil Wayne, Donald Faison (Scrubs), Aisha Tyler (Archer), Kym Whitley (Reno 911), Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), Mo’Nique (The Parkers), Marion Ross (Happy Days), Tavis Smiley, Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Bill Duke (X-Men: The Last Stand) and Cedric the Entertainer. Season 4 will also welcome back returning guest star roles voiced by Xzibit, Charlie Murphy, MTV’s Sway and Katt Williams, among others.
