Fox Kids/Jetix Latin America Acquires Nine Dog Christmas

Earthworks Ent. announced today that the feature-length, animated holiday special Nine Dog Christmas will have its premiere on the Fox Kids/Jetix Network throughout all of Latin America this holiday season. Further International TV deals are expected to be announced shortly and a U.S. broadcast network deal is also in the works.

Narrated by James Earl Jones (The Lion King), Nine Dog Christmas tells the story of nine extraordinary stray dogs who come to Santa’s rescue when the reindeer flu threatens to cancel Christmas.

Earthworks’ president and CEO, Peter Keefe, who produced Nine Dog Christmas and developed the property’s marketing strategy, comments, "We are working to make the Nine Dog Christmas the first chapter of a major new world-class Nine Dog brand franchise with plans that include the Nine Dog Night of Fright sequel and a Nine Dog TV series.”

We reported last week that Independent distributor and co-producer INDIGO has signed a deal with the Disney channels for the special. The musical adventure will air on Disney channels in Italy, Germany, Asia and Taiwan.

The Nine Dog Christmas is a property of JRS Properties LLC, which is headed by managing partner Diane Branco. INDIGO has worldwide TV rights, and licensing is being handled by Moon Mesa Media, which will launch an extensive licensing campaign next year. Warner Home Video is releasing the title worldwide on VHS and DVD for the 2004 holiday season.
