Breakthrough Animation’s popular animated children’s series Captain Flamingo has found a U.S. broadcast home in the Jetix programming block, which airs on Toon Disney. Jetix has licensed all 52 half-hours of the comedy-adventure show aimed at kids 6-12, as well as 44 minutes of separate Captain Flamingo content produced for the Internet and mobile platforms.
Captain Flamingo follows the adventures of Milo Powell, who is often overlooked by other kids until he dons his terrycloth cape and becomes a superhero who champions kids everywhere with the secret help of Lizbeth, the girl next door. In the second season, our beaked hero will take on some new villains, including aliens from outer space.
Breakthrough’s co-production partners on Captain Flamingo are Heroic Film Co., Atomic Cartoons and PASI Animation. The series was created by Heroic’s John May and Suzanne Bolch, and developed by Breakthrough Animation’s Kevin Gillis and Atomic Cartoon’s Rob Davies.
The latest Jetix licensing agreement follows on the heels of Jetix Europe’s recent renewal of Captain Flamingo. The show has also been licensed to YTV Canada, Nickelodeon Australia, ABC Australia, Nickelodeon Latin America and VRAK TV.
