Kappa Mikey Movie Debuts

Kappa Mikey’s Kappa Karaoke, Nicktoons Network’s first TV movie, premieres this weekend, treating fans to a musical extravaganza featuring ten original songs performed by the show’s animated cast of characters. Viewers can even sing along when the movie debuts on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. (ET). An encore presentation will air on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.

Created by Larry Schwarz, CEO of Animation Collective, Kappa Mikey follows the adventures of unknown American actor Mikey Simon, who finds the path to stardom on LilyMu, a fictional Japanese TV series. East meets west in the show’s animation style, which depicts Mikey with a thick-lined pop graphic style and his Asian cast members as anime characters.

Kappa Karaoke is an animated opera that Nicktoons hopes will attract new viewers to the Kappa Mikey series. Like a real karaoke experience, the movie will feature lyrics on the screen with a bouncing ball to help the folks at home sing along.

MTV Networks’ first global acquisition, Kappa Mikey premiered on Nicktoons Network in February of 2006 and currently airs Sundays at 10:00 p.m. and weekdays at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
