Nelvana Assembles Partners for ‘Mysticons’

Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana announces that it has joined forces with Playmates Toys, Nickelodeon and The Topps Company to bring a wholly original girls’ action series aimed at ages six and up to the TV animation landscape. The half-hour CG animated Mysticons is slated to debut in 2017 and is being executive produced by Michael Eisner and Noel Bright for Topps, and Corus Ent.’s Doug Murphy, Colin Bohm and Irene Weibel.

Written by kids’ author Sean Jara (RedaKai, Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5, The League of Super Evil), Mysticons is an epic tale about four girls who transform into legendary warriors and undertake a mythic quest to find a magic tome known as the Codex — before Necrafa, Queen of the Undead, can use it to spread darkness and destruction. The Mysticons come from all walks of life, from princess to street kid, but are brought together to save the world with their incredible magical weapons and abilities.

Playmates Toys will act as global master toy partner for the show, while Nickelodeon serves as global broadcast partner, including in the U.S. Nelvana Studio is developing the franchise and will begin production later this year, working closely with the core partner companies including Topps.
