Having taken major steps to expand the reach of its portfolio in Asia, Taffy Ent. today announced that it has sold its animated series Code Lyoko, Fantastic Four, Dive Olly Dive! and Dr. Dog to various broadcasters in the region. The worldwide distribution, brand management and entertainment company will be showcasing these and other shows in its portfolio at ATF later this week.
Fantastic Four has been picked up by Asia TV in Hong Kong, ABS-CBN in The Philippines and OBS Korea. Meanwhile, Animax in Korea has secured the rights to the first season of Code Lyoko, along with Starlight in Pakistan. Elsewhere in Asia, Dive Olly Dive! has been bought by Cartoon Network India, Cineplex Thailand and by TPI in Indonesia, and Dr Dog has been leashed by HBO Asia.
‘Asia is a key region for us and it’s great that broadcasters are taking note of our commitment to working closely with them with the opening of our Shanghai office only one year ago,’ says Lionel Marty, president of worldwide distribution for Taffy Ent. ‘We hope to further expand the presence of our programming in Asia and these shows will provide a great launching pad, as we are confident they will each prove to be a hit with new viewers.’
Based on Marvel’s renowned Super Hero franchise, Fantastic Four is an action-comedy co-produced by MoonScoop and Marvel, with the participation of Cartoon Network Europe and M6. Taffy Entertainment has distribution rights outside the U.S., with Marvel handling U.S. television and subsequent DVD distribution rights and worldwide merchandising.
Blending 2D and 3D computer animation Code Lyoko is produced by MoonScoop Prods., in association with France 3 and Canal J, and distributed worldwide by Taffy Ent. The show airs in the U.S. on Cartoon Network, in France on France 3 and Canal J, and in the U.K. on CiTV, in addition to other outlets in nearly 100 countries worldwide.
Dive Olly Dive! is a co-production of Mike Young Prods, Ltd., Flying Bark Prods. of Australia, KI.KA, ARD of Germany, Telegael of Ireland and GDC. Created by Andrew and Ian Ross, the preschool show is produced with the support of the MEDIA Plus Programme of the European Community.
Based on the book by best-selling author Babette Cole, Dr. Dog combines irreverent humor, quirky characters, and adventure with useful bits medical advice for kids. The series is produced by France Animation, ZDF, Canal J and Colorland in association with TF1, CNC, NRK, YLE and SVT.
